IndyCar Truth and Rumors Section

I think this deserves to be a topic. The series needs its own section of this like all other sports have. Lets try not to have discussions on this topic, lets just sumbit rumors as we hear them and give the links if we have them. Thanks

Heres the latest
- Curt Cavin (indystar.com) reported that Tomas Scheckter has found a sponsor from a us company and is expected to bring 2-3 million dollars of backing. He lists rumored rides for Scheckter are: Rahal/Letterman, KV, Dreyer/Reinbold or Vision.
- Curt Cavin (indystar.com) reported that Conquest racing, as of now, will field only one car this season. Alex Tagliani will run the road/street coarses and Jaime Camara will run the ovals. Camara will test the car at Homestead next week.
- Curt Cavin (indystar.com) reported that Justin Wilson's name has been mentioned for a 2nd seat at Dreyer/Reinbold Racing.
- Robin Miller (speedtv.com) reported that he expects to see Dale Coyne Racing with two cars this season. Bruno Junquiera is expected to drive one of the cars. Jonathan Bomarito of the Atlantics Championship is rumored as a candidate for the 2nd seat.
- autosport.com reported that Dan Clarke has sponsorship and is in negotiations with IndyCar teams for a seat. Names of the teams not given.

Post any news or rumors as you hear them.

Your welcome ashpaltguy.

Im sure everyone already heard that Roger Yasukawa will drive for Dreyer/Reinbold for Motegi and likely Indy. Dreyer/Reinbold is still intent on running 2 full time cars. Whether that happens or not, we'll see. Most likely Townsend Bell will run a partial schedule again. Just cant see it full time.

OK, let's sum up some rumors:

a/ TG will not field a second car at Indy unless the costs are covered by someone else - he'll just lend a tub...

b/ odds are that reaching 33 at Indy will be a big struggle this year - nobody is going to field an extra car and a solo excercise costs $1mil or more...

c/ the 'reality' part: last year we had this so called "mergification"... since then RLR folded, D&R are down to one car, Vision is down to one car, Panther are still a one car deal,... BUT !!! = NHLR are going three cars, HVM are going two cars, Conquest and DCR stay at two cars, and KVRT will still be a two car team as of Indy...

So what is the big deal ???... ...the "big deal" is that IRL staple of Foyt, D&R, Panther, Vision, (remember Roth) are slowly dying... and CC teams are getting stronger... ...and in the meantime ISC is shutting doors down and ICS has NO CHOICE !!! but going in the footsteps of good ole CART ?!...

Come 2012 you may reply to this post...

Zero

Zero, first of all, you're an idiot. Hands down. clearly have no knowledge of racing.

Whats that about TG not fielding a 2nd unless someone pays for it. Just signed RHR to run out of his pocket. There you go.

2nd, to say that Indy will struggle to get 33 is the single dumbest thing I've heard anybody say. Indy will have no issues getting 33 cars this May. I dont care how bad the economy is, it will not top one of the biggest races in the world. Wont happen that way.

I usually dont say these kinds of things unless I know im right but, Based on what I have gone and seen in racing, many different series and my overall experience, I can assure you I know more about racing than you could ever hope to know.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now, lets take a look at rumors for the Final week before opener
- Dreyer/Reinbold may be taking Milka Duno back in a 2nd seat.
- Dale Coyne 2nd car with Bruno Junquiera is legitimate possibility.
- Tomas Scheckter is in talks for a 2nd 3G/BECK seat with his $2-3 million in sponsorship.

This was stated by Brian Barnhart and Terry Angstadt on Trackside recently.

Heres other rumors:
- Jaime Camara is supposingly confirmed for the year with Conquest.
- Alex Tagliani has been in Canada working a deal with a Canadian sponsor that would land him a Conquest seat for 16 of 17 races. The deal is expected to go through in the next two weeks. So in that case, he will miss St. Pete but start off at Long Beach
- Jimmy Vasser is confident that his 2nd team will start off at indy and go through the rest of the year. Paul Tracy or Oriol Servia as the driver

Just to clarify, this are just rumors. I didnt say these were confirmed. I have to clarify this since Mr. Lack of Racing Knowledge (Zero) doesnt seem to get the idea.

Thanks, race fans. Hope you enjoy St. Pete. I'll keep updates coming as I get them

News

Tomas Scheckter reportedly has a deal ready and is expected to be announced this afternoon or Tuesday. All signs point to D&R 2nd entry or a 2nd 3G/Beck entry.

Milka Duno is rumored to be near a deal as well with either D&R or Dale Coyne Racing. She is expected to miss the first event.

If the Scheckter deal falls through, that will bring the St. Pete Entry List to 22.

...

According to Robin Miller on speedtv.com

- Milka Duno may no longer have any sponsorship and therefore is out of IndyCar for the moment.

- Honda is reportedly funding a ride for Takuma Sato in a Gil De Ferran car at Motegi and some additional oval events.

- After all the controversy surrounding the ALMS with Honda and Acura, it appears some ALMS teams may be looking to move to the IndyCar Series as soon as 2010. Among them rumored are Gil De Ferran and Patron Highcroft.
