The Greatest Tour in Many years!

I really enjoyed the Tour this year. I think the lack of doping in the peloton has made the race more competitive among more riders. This made the race more exciting for me.

I also enjoyed the commentaries and pre-race show more this year. Craig Hummer was the best lead so far...

Vive Le Tour ! :D

I agree! We truly did not know who the winner would be until, well, yesterday....

Plus no time bonuses I think made it tighter. If anyone love stats and has time on their hands, I'd LOVE to see what the overall standings would look like if time bonuses had been given throughout the tour. Would the final podium look the same????

Good question Grasshopper. I am in favor of the time bonuses, as it adds a little extra Tabasco on the stage for me. But, it would be interesting to go through the stages and add in the time bonuses and see if anything changes....my guess is no....at least not for the top 10 places?

I'm betting it looks very different actually....maybe I'm wrong, but I think we'd see Valverde and Schumacher higher....plus more

The other thing to think about...if the time bonuses made big differences from day to day, the teams may have employed different strategies from day to day, as well, which may have caused a totally different outcome.

Too bad they can't do like on movie DVD's, under "special bonus features" have alternate endings :P

With the time bonuses Cadel would of never accidentally gotten Yellow :D :D :D

That would of been the best thing about the Time Bonuses!

But the standings would be the same. Except Cavendish with his 4 wins would of been ranked maybe one spot higher before he exited stage left.

I'd been thinking about this too. But I don't think you can do it.

Correct me if I am wrong, time bonuses are given during the race as well as at the finish. Therefor, you really can't tabulate them because there would have been sprints for time bonuses during the race that didn't exist this year.

And that is the dimension you sacrifice by doing away with the TB.

Lack of doping? What tour were you watching? I thought it was OK at times, but I prefer more aggressive attacking. I think the Vuelta will be better.

Greatest Tour in years? Exciting? Hmmm, I wanna see more balls out attacking! Especially in the big mountains. Oops, maybe that is too ambitious a hope in a clean bike race. Oh well...

What could have realistically made this Tour better for me.......

um, maybe if Fabi had won one of the TT's, but Olympic gold (well, and bronze lol) makes up for that!

So I guess the only thing would be if I had been there on the team bus celebrating with them for real!!!!! 8)

He doesn't deserve any ranking or special mention since he didn't finish. On top of that, any stages he won should go to the runner up, just like they do when someone is caught doping. If you start the race, plan on finishing it :? Quit and lose it all.

Injuries are the same - who's to say they're not faking (except for Pereiro).
